Rogue 'locksmith' sentenced to four years behind bars

Sentenced yesterday 31 August 2010 at the Old Bailey, Makowski was given a three and a half years prison sentence after being found guilty of 15 counts of fraud which cost members of the public thousands of pounds.  Makowski – who has previously been investigated by BBC’s Rogue Traders – received a further six months for committing an offence whilst on bail.

CBC's C-Allview cameras secure Heugh Gun Battery Museum's exhibits

* GanzC-AllViewCamera.jpgLeading surveillance solutions provider CBC (Europe) has been called in to protect a range of exciting military exhibits at an expanding visitor attraction in the north-east of England. CBC systems including its Ganz C-Allview camera have been installed to help secure the Heugh Gun Battery Museum in Hartlepool, a faithfully restored 19th century coastal defence battery.

Heugh Gun Battery's exhibits include over 15 artillery pieces ranging from small portable weapons to large naval guns. Many of these are classics, like the museum's 25-pounder, Bofors and 5.5-inch Howitzer weapons. The site was involved in ship-to-shore combat during both World Wars and the Heugh Gun Battery Trust now looks after it, working in conjunction with Hartlepool Borough Council, English Heritage and the North East Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA).

Hickleys Security Calculator

* ad100pro.jpgHickleys announce great news for all key programmers using the AD100Pro or MVPPro. Until now, newer Ford vehicles required a time-consuming incode / outcode system on the website before a key could be programmed and it could not be guaranteed that the correct code would be received.

With the new security calculator customers no longer need any codes and the system offers 100% correct codes. Furthermore, older Ford vehicles used a 10 minute countdown before the keys can be programmed, this system has been bypassed on many vehicles making the key programming instant.

The security calculator is available at a cost of £79 and there is a generous upgrade opportunity for users of the older AD100 & MVP.

There are currently nine police officers who share the responsibility of ensuring the safekeeping of the Minster's irreplaceable artifacts as well as keeping an eye out for any anti-social behaviour which might spoil the enjoyment of visitors.

MPL locks in to Bradford City FC

Bradford City FC have announced the latest addition to their boardroom. Graham Jones of MPL has joined the team of directors after stepping up from two years as an associate.

Jones got involved with the club through joint-chairman Mark Lawn. The pair run MPL in Wakefield which oversees six locksmith companies.

"I've always supported Bradford and when Mark got involved with the club, I wanted to as well," said Jones.

On a practical front, that has meant offering his expertise around the stadium to facilities manager David Dowse.

"Because our game is handles, locks and security, I can work closely with David," he said.

"With my involvement we can cut costs on maintenance of the stadium. I don't take a penny out the club, I just want to help where I can."

'Rogue Trader' locksmith guilty of defrauding customers

A locksmith once exposed on BBC TV's Rogue Traders has been convicted at the Old Bailey of ripping off customers across London.

As reported in the London Evening Standard Mark Makowski overcharged by thousands of pounds after being called out to get people back into their homes.
