Security guards in plain clothes are going to patrol Brittany Ferries

* Ferry.jpgPlain clothes security staff are to be placed on Brittany Ferries' vessels and passengers will face additional bag checks, it has been revealed. The Plymouth-based company has increased security measures for travellers ahead of its summer rush. The security staff won't be armed but gun-toting French military patrols, introduced last year, are continuing.

Armed sea marshals were on board the Plymouth to Roscoff return trip from the weekend of July 1/2. The new measures come as the result of a six-month review of on-board security and the introduction of armed military patrols on cross-channel services.
