Dahua enters Forbes Asia's Fab 50 list
This year's Asia's Fab 50 list has been published and Dahua Technology, a leading solution provider in the global video surveillance industry, has made it into the top 50 of this exciting register of companies.
Forbes 13th annual Fab 50 list of the best big publicly traded companies honours corporate stars throughout the Asia-Pacific region. This year, China has grabbed most of the spotlight, with 29 of the 50 companies headquartered on the mainland. Dahua is one of 11 Chinese newcomers to the Fab 50, reflecting the country's deep pool of entrepreneurial talent. It is also the only video surveillance company on the list.
Competition for the Fab 50 was between 1,694 publicly traded companies with annual revenues of at least US$1.8 billion. Loss-making companies or businesses whose revenue was less than it was five years ago were then eliminated, together with those with a high debt ratio and companies with more than 50% state or listed parent ownership.
The remaining contenders were then subjected to a battery of over a dozen financial tests. The goal in defining the Fab 50 is to highlight entrepreneurial businesses, rather than any with state funding, to produce a stellar line-up of high-performance blue chip companies - the region's best of the best, in fact.
Dahua, which has achieved continuous yearly growth since 2008, had a gross revenue of US$1.93 billion in 2016, representing a year-on-year growth of 32.26%. The company's 2017 H1 financial report shows growth of 50.81% in terms of gross revenue in the reporting period.
Innovative technology
Since 2014, Dahua has invested around 10% of its annual sales revenue in R&D. The company has four research establishments - the Advanced Technology Institute, Big Data Institute, Chip Institute, and Video Cloud Institute - and more than 5,000 R&D engineers and technical staff working on cutting-edge technologies. In 2017 alone, the company has released numerous new products and solutions, such as the HDCVI-4K product line, ePoE systems, Seaport Solution and Smart City Solutions.
Dahua attaches great importance to working with well-known companies and institutes. At the end of 2016, it announced that it was collaborating with Dell to build smart security systems. In 2017, the company has been cooperating with Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications on a new joint intelligent video lab. It has also worked with NVIDIA to promote video+ with a Deep Sense smart video structure server. In addition, Dahua and Intel have announced the joint release of a new industrial camera, establishing a blueprint for the machine vision industry.
Dahua has completed the transformation of its diversified front-end products into smart devices, as well as the improvement of a multi-dimensional sensing system. It is now focusing on upgrading customised industry solutions.
Reliable quality
A national Lean Six Sigma award in 2015, as well as the Hangzhou Best QC Organisation and an Asia Quality Innovation Excellent Project in 2016 are just a few examples of Dahua's commitment to quality. In June 2017, the company partnered with Synopsys (Nasdaq: SNPS) to enhance the security of its Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Later this year, the Dahua Intelligent (IoT) Industrial Park will be opened in Hangzhou's Fuyang district. Also by the end of 2017, many more Dahua service centres will be opened around the world, providing local after-sales technical support to its customers and partners.
End-to-end service
Dahua understands that to provide increasingly better service to its customers and partners, operating on a local basis is essential. In addition to the establishment of service centres, a growing number of subsidiaries and international academies have also been established in various regions of the world. This year alone, the company has opened subsidiaries in Russia, India and Bulgaria, with two International Academy training sessions held in Poland and the Iberian peninsula. These activities have attracted considerable attention from customers and partners worldwide. Dahua has also been cooperating with world-renowned third-party software platforms such as Milestone, Genetec, Axxon, and Angelcam to extend the application scope of its products and solutions.
