Beaver Access installs SALTO access control system at Liberty Living London

* Liberty-Living.jpgBeaver Access, the Croydon based access control specialist, is helping to ensure the safety of students at two Liberty Living properties in London with the installation of an innovative SALTO access control solution.

Liberty Living is one of the UK's largest privately owned providers of purpose-built student accommodation with over 23,500 beds under management across 51 residences in the UK. The accommodation is in high-quality, modern residences, in prime locations across 19 major university towns and cities, with the majority of rooms en-suite with shared kitchens and social areas.

Access upgrade

"When Liberty Living decided to upgrade two of its London based student properties, Liberty House - St John Street and Liberty House- Sebastian Street, from their existing SALTO system to a new solution we recommended the new SALTO XS4 One as the perfect replacement" said Gary Bevan, Director of Beaver Access.

Both properties are undergoing an all room upgrade to make them brand new - ready for September 2018. Liberty House - St John Street is located in a trendy, cosmopolitan district of Central London close to many of the city's higher education institutions, including University College London. Nearby Liberty House - Sebastian Street is also just a short bus ride away from Imperial College London.

Flexibility of mobile

"The new SALTO XS4 One smart electronic handle set was chosen as it is an evolution of the original
model with a totally new built-in reader and is Mifare/BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) enabled. These help to future-proof the buildings as they can be used with SALTO's JustIN Mobile technology, so when Liberty Living chooses to roll it out, students will be able to use their smart phones to access doors in the properties.

The XS4 One has the same footprint as the previous handle sets, despite being a more modern design, enabling them to be used as direct replacements onto the door using the same fixing holes and using the same in-door locks. We've installed 373 of the new handles plus 10 hard wired online doors throughout the properties. All the stand alone electronic locks are battery operated, and the easy to use functionality of the XS4 One handle sets means adding or deleting access privileges is simple and quick and the system can easily grow to meet any future security requirements as and when required" Bevan continues.

David Adams, Project Manager Liberty Living London, adds "We were very impressed with the speed at which Beaver Access installed and commissioned our new access control handle sets. We met with them at the beginning of the six week holiday period and agreed to have everything scheduled, supplied and completed and within a 5-6 week period before the students returned to college.

All delivery dates were met with during a very busy holiday period and all the old handle sets were removed and smoothly replaced with new in the agreed one week period. The overriding aim of this project for us has been to ensure we are doing everything we can to safeguard our students and our new SALTO XS4 One access control system will ensure we achieve this goal."
