Security Excellence Awards 2011 finalists announced

* SEA2011.jpgThe results are in - finalists of the highly coveted Security Excellence Awards 2011 have been announced by organisers UBM Live. Often referred to as the 'Oscars of the security profession,' the Security Excellence Awards are produced in association with Security Management Today Online and info4security.com, to highlight the very best people, projects and processes the UK's security sector has to offer.

Celebrating its thirteenth year with a five percent rise in entries, the Security Excellence Awards, a key networking and social event in the industry calendar, represent a fantastic opportunity for the security industry to come together and honour the achievements of their peers in the security management, installation, consultancy and manufacturing sub-sectors. The Awards will be presented at a black tie gala dinner on Wednesday 19th October at London's prestigious Hilton Hotel on Park Lane.

Brian Sims, Editor of SMT Online, Group Content Editor for UBM Live's Security Portfolio and the SEA's figurehead - explained: "Yet again the standard of this year's submissions has been extremely high. Both companies and individuals from across the security sector have obviously achieved so much of late, and we're delighted to be able to recognise their efforts in what is the security profession's premier awards scheme."

With close to 1,000 guests attending the 2010 awards, including the security sector's key managers as well as leading representatives from the Security Industry Authority, the British Security Industry Association (BSIA), Skills for Security, the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) and the Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board, last year's event was a hive of networking activity.

James Kelly, Chief Executive of BSIA, said: "Innovation is key to the ongoing success of the private security industry, with new technology, products and people services making an ongoing contribution to the security of the nation. In recognition of the important role that product development plays in driving progress in our industry, the BSIA is once again supporting the Security Innovation of the Year award. The standard of this year's entries remains incredibly high, and we would like to congratulate all of the finalists, whose hard work and efforts help drive our industry forward."

The 2011 Awards have seen a brand new award category and continue to have a number of industry supporters including headline sponsor Showsec, Reliance High-Tech, Camberford Law, Ecovert, Texecom, Genie, OVER-C and industry bodies BSIA and NSI.

Mark Harding, Managing Director of Showsec, said: "We have a very good, long standing relationship with the SEA awards and our becoming a headline sponsor in 2011 and 2012 reflects this. Showsec's mission statement is that we 'deliver security through excellence', so there is a clear alignment of our objectives with those of the Awards. We recognise the editorial professionalism of Info4Security.com and SMT Online along with the high standards of the SEA Awards themselves, which are furthering the advancements of the entire industry. We feel very comfortable aligning our brand with this prestigious event, which recognises best practice and outstanding performance within the security sector."

David Ottewill, FCII FPC, Managing Director of Camberford Law plc, said: "Camberford Law plc is delighted to be involved in the sponsoring of the Security Excellence Awards 2011 and in particular for the Security Guarding Company of the Year. We applaud and encourage the promoting of professionalism within the Industry and also the hard work and dedication required by the entrants to achieve such an award.

"We have been insuring security companies for over 20 years and all too often the work of the security company is overlooked, despite the fact that it plays such a crucial role in public life and we feel it is only fair to recognise the outstanding achievers in this field."

Jeff Little, OBE, NSI Chief Executive, said: "NSI has been an avid supporter of the Security Excellence Awards since their inception. We believe whole heartedly in acknowledging excellence within our industry, improving standards and formally recognising the contribution which individuals and organistions make for the benefit of both the customer and the industry as a whole. We are therefore delighted to champion the new category of 'Contribution to Standards' at this year's highly anticipated event and hope that the award will provide a stimulus and an incentive for such contributions in the future."

Dan Thomas, Sales and Marketing Director of Reliance High-Tech, said: "Reliance High-Tech is delighted to be supporting the 2011 Security Excellence Awards and in particular to be sponsoring the IT Initiative award. We chose to sponsor this award as we firmly believe that through the application of information technology to the management and usage of the vast amounts of data that security systems now collect, security solution providers can transform the value they bring to their customers. We would like to congratulate all the finalists and wish them every success on the night."
