The previously reported hack of card operated door locks widely used in hotels is now being used by burglars to gain access to guest bedrooms, according to mainstream news sources such as Forbes and the BBC (see below). According to Forbes, hotel guests have been returning to their rooms to find that items have been taken with no visible signs of unlawful entry. Staff access cards have been monitored and show no entry for room service at times when the theft has taken place. At least one arrest has been made, but with some 4 million card access locks of this type out there, we can certainly expect more. We can only hope so. The old key on a big plastic fob don't look so silly now do they?
