Security scare: prohibited item found on domestic flight in Australia A Virgin Australia flight was held up over a security scare after a taser gun was found on board. The weapon, concealed in a pocket-sized camera pouch, fell out of a passenger's bag in the overhead locker and onto the floor, according to a passenger who witnessed the unfolding drama on the Melbourne to Adelaide flight.
Kaba Expands Enterprise Software to Work With Both Offline and Online E-Plex Locks Kaba Access Control announces the availability of Enterprise Software, Version 3.0 for use with both offline and online E-Plex Locks. With the implementation of Enterprise Software, users can manage stand-alone E-Plex Locks centrally without configuring a wireless network or engage the wireless option on some or all of the access points for real-time functionality without the wires.

The Atlantic Group has announced the acquisition of Avocet Hardware Limited. The Atlantic Group (which includes Eliza Tinsley) is a hardware business which manufactures and distributes hardware products - including chain and rope, fixings, fasteners and general hardware into the major UK DIY retailers and independent trade markets. It is claimed that the acquisition of Avocet Hardware will further strengthen the Group's presence within these markets. G4S acquires UK key holding firm Security firm G4S has acquired Chubb Emergency Response from UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies. G4S will pay a maximum consideration of £17m in cash for the business, £14.3m of which was paid on completion of the acquisition. Chubb Emergency Response is a key holding and mobile patrol business providing coverage throughout the UK to over 7,000 customers across 22,000 locations via a network of 28 offices and 247 employees. Advice relating to Euro cylinder locks Following the concerns raised by West Yorkshire Police relating to the vulnerability of Euro cylinder style locks used mainly on uPVC doors, North Yorkshire Police have issued the following advice. North Yorkshire is one of the safest places in the UK and has the lowest crime rate in England. The number of lock-snapping burglaries reported to North Yorkshire Police is minimal compared to other areas.
