Products Burglar says he was doing locksmith work, cops say Ogden, Utah police deputies say a 31-year-old man being charged with breaking into a vehicle told them he was just practicing to be a locksmith! Weber County sheriff's deputies say they responded to a burglary call and found the man with lock picks, bolt cutters and what appeared to be a glass pipe for smoking methamphetamine. They requested a search warrant and seized stolen items from a truck, including several purses, wallets, religious books, a gun and gems worth an estimated $5,000. Locksmith killed during legal eviction A locksmith hired to help in the process of evicting a California tenant was shot dead, along with the sheriff's deputy serving the eviction notice, police said last Friday. In addition to the two men shot dead, a lone body has been found inside the charred ruins of the Modesto, California, apartment building, Modesto police Officer Chris Adams told CNN. ICO warns: take better care of your data on used hard drives
The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is urging consumers to take better care of their data, following an investigation into the trade in used hard drives. The ICO has published new guidance to help individuals securely delete personal information from their old devices. An investigation by the ICO found that one in ten second-hand hard drives sold online may contain residual personal information. An ICO survey also found that 65% of British adults now hand on their old phones, computers and laptops to another user, with 44% giving it away to somebody else for free and around one in five (21%) selling it to somebody else. Access control equipment from Alpro Architectural Hardware has been used at a premium residential development on the Dorset coast, the Hutton Apartments in Weymouth, which also feature a 'time capsule' left by primary schoolchildren. The Alpro installation includes electric strikes and transom closers. The strikes are Alpro's ANSI-style models which can be used in metal or timber door applications. They are 12/24v selectable and have a holding force of 1,750kg (3,860lbs.) The units' deep jaws will accept a 13mm latch bolt, and electrical current consumption is low at 200mA and 100mA (+15%) for 12vDC and 24vDC respectively. A rectifier sounder module enables operation with AC current. With either current type, the sounder can be set for either buzzing or silence.
