A two-month Australian study commissioned by the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID), a global, non-profit, data protection watchdog agency, has found significant amounts of personal information left on recycled computers.
Although the system can be used as a new installation, the electronic lock has the same fixing holes as the majority of mechanical digital locks enabling access control systems to be upgraded simply and quickly.

Householders concerned about the security of their homes are calling in locksmiths, installers and security professionals for advice following a BBC TV Watchdog Test House expose on the vulnerability of locks on most domestic PVC-u and composite entrance doors.
The BBC TV consumer programme revealed that many burglaries that occur in the UK each year are carried out by criminals snapping the Eurocylinder within the door lock, a process that can take just seconds.
Buyers of locks and security hardware have a buyer power score of 3.3 out of 5.0. Scores closer to 5.0 indicate a higher level of buyer power. Buyer negotiation power is limited in this market because substitute products are scarce, related goods must accompany the majority of lock purchases and market share concentration is high, providing the top suppliers with more power over the market, says IBISWorld procurement analyst Aileen Weiss.
However, the commoditisation of most locks and the wide product distribution provide the buyer with some power to shop around and compare prices.

Surveillance video standards organisation the HDcctv Alliance will provide the security industry with its first look at the new generation of HDcctv 2.0 surveillance technologies and products at ISC West 2014.
The Alliance recently ratified the HDcctv 2.0 standards, which have been developed and agreed for equipment able to produce high-fidelity HD video without transmission delay and without the need for IP cameras or Ethernet cabling within a secured premises - meaning a significant cost-saving in many surveillance systems.

This year is already stacking up to be a seminal year in cyber security. We're only a couple of months into 2014 and we've already seen multiple stories highlighting the issue. In January, a large-scale theft of data on payment cards was uncovered, which affected 45 retailers in 11 countries. In February, we saw HMRC warning of tax rebate scams and there are reports emerging of fraudsters using online dating sites to ensnare victims.
Cyber security is not just an issue for large businesses. According to the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS), small businesses are now experiencing cyber security incidents only seen previously in larger organisations. In fact, according to their research, 87% of small businesses had a security breach in the last year, which is up from 76% the year before.Full Story
MOBOTIX AG has released details of a project at Disposables UK Group that has helped to secure its new consolidated site while improving visibility over its production and distribution environments.
In July of 2013, Yorkshire based Disposables UK Group took a step nearer to achieving its ambitious five year growth plan with a move to a larger site in Meltham, near Huddersfield. The family-run business, which is one of the largest employers in Meltham, has invested £1.7m in new machinery, and has plans to almost double its current £16m turnover to £30m by 2018. The company manufactures and distributes paper disposables and associated cleaning and hygiene products for the 'away from home market.'
According to a press release published in the Wall Street Journal, video and security technology company DirectView Security plans to open a Colorado office to support the expansion of its cannabis industry security and surveillance business.
In a quote "Both growers and dispensaries of marijuana have extensive state and local government compliance requirements when it comes to security."
