Data breaches reported to ICO drop 20% due to Covid-19 The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) has reported a 20 per cent drop in personal data breach reports, from 11,854 in the 2019/20 financial year, down to 9,532 in the most recent financial year (FY 20/21). British security worker killed in oil tanker drone attack A Hereford company has said one of its workers has been killed in an attack on an oil tanker. Iran's ambassador to the UK has been summoned to the Foreign Office following the attack on the tanker. The UK said it was highly likely that Iran was behind the drone strike on the MV Mercer Street off the coast of Oman. Securitas acquires leading electronic security company in Germany Securitas has agreed to acquire Protection One, the German market leader specialising in remote technology-driven security solutions and electronic security.
The acquisition will enhance Securitas’ protective services capabilities in Germany and is in line with the Group’s strategy of doubling its security solutions and electronic security sales by 2023. Total Video Surveillance market revenues to hit $24.2bn in 2021 The global video surveillance market revenues are set to reach $24 bn by the end of 2021 according to Omdia’s latest Video Surveillance and Analytics Intelligence Database. This marks a quick recovery for the video surveillance market as demand that was suppressed in 2020 will return and revenues will be bolstered by projects that were postponed in 2020 due to COVID.
