ABUS flying high with new Kitemark ABUS UK's MD Nick Vanderhoest says: "We're absolutely delighted to achieve the BSi Kitemark giving us this vital UK accreditation on top of our other European standards. APf cylinders have already been fitted within Dubai's iconic Burj Al Arab hotel, the Houses of Parliament and Wembley Stadium. Now that ABUS cylinders carry the British Kitemark we can expect further high profile projects." The Kitemark is specifically awarded on the strength of the cylinder's anti-bump, anti-snap and anti-drill resistance. Latest crime stats released and new research shows people leaving doors open for burglars National crime statistics released today show an increase in domestic burglaries - many of us still don't lock our front door: new research. Home Office statistics released last week highlight that domestic burglaries are up 14%[i]. Experts say that this could increase throughout the summer months as the weather starts to warm up and people venture into their gardens or leave their windows open. New research from Ageas Insurance shows that just under one in two adults (47%) don't lock their front door as a rule when they are at home. And that's when sneak-in crimes can happen. More than one in ten (13%) only ever lock their front door at bedtime.[ii] The often confusing area of safe selection has just been made much clearer with the new range of Euro graded safes from Securikey, providing protection from £6000 to £1 million pounds and designed to please the eye as well as the insurer ; the fully tested and approved units provide a safe haven for whatever is most important to you... The inclusion of a test certificate and product rating label bearing the VdS logo prevents issues of approval from insurers once your choice has been made. Securikey.co.uk will assist with product selection and tutorial videos help to select from multiple locking options. Walk Away Locking - Convenience Versus Security Unlocking the potential of Walk Away Locking in Europe - a comprehensive analysis of market adoption, technology challenges and future outlook
Walk Away Locking (WAL) as a function of smart key systems, is currently the pinnacle of convenience for passenger cars. In an exclusive report, SBD reveal that over 75% of European customers interviewed wanted their smart key system to use WAL and approximately 20% of European smart key systems (or around 2% of all new vehicles sold) are equipped with WAL. This extensive report explains the working of WAL and includes consumer feedback and concerns. The features and functioning of WAL systems of leading European vehicle manufacturers are compared to show the different approaches. Hiplok - the bike lock you wear The idea of wearing a bicycle lock around the waist or across the shoulder is not new; bike couriers have been doing it with heavyweight chain and cable locks for years, but the Hiplok is claimed to be the world’s first bicycle lock developed specifically to be worn on the body. Codestuff helps Manchester Airport go digital CCTV upgrade to 1000 camera site helps airport to improve efficiency, reduce complexity and cut maintenance cost Codestuff, a leading provider of innovative video management systems, has announced a project helping Manchester Airport to upgrade its ageing analogue CCTV system to a fully digital core. As Union Jack bunting goes up on Regent Street and flags are raised across central London, elsewhere the focus is on more sinister stuff in the form of a huge anti-terrorism operation. Police have launched one of the biggest security operations the country has ever seen - estimated to cost £20 million - to protect William and Kate and world leaders. Drains have been lifted, the insides of lampposts scoured and even the fronts of the boxes on pedestrian crossing buttons have been removed as every inch of the wedding route is searched for explosives.
