American-born locksmith trapped in Russia for 77 years suddenly speaks English again after stroke An American man trapped in the Soviet Union 77 years ago - deep in Stalinist times - has suddenly reverted to speaking in his native English instead of the Russian he was forced to learn to survive his epic Communist ordeal. Kenneth Edwards, now 95, recently suffered a stroke which left him unable to communicate with his Russian family and children. 'I am having to learn Russian all over again,' he said in a halting American accent in Zlatoust, an industrial Ural Mountains outpost where he worked in a watch-making factory for 60 years, latterly as the locksmith to the head of his department. Muthanna Aldebashi of Alameda was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen goods. The 27-year-old taxi driver is being held in Alameda County jail. A web campaign to catch the alleged thief was launched by laptop owner Joshua Kaufman, who filed a police report in late March stating that someone had broken into his North Oakland apartment and stolen his Apple MacBook computer. Kaufman said he had installed software called Hidden that followed the computer's movements through a tracking device, and took pictures of the suspect's face while the man used the laptop. 15 million of us on police database UK police have set up a computer system which will allow forces to share intelligence on 15 million people. A Police National Database was the key recommendation from the Bichard Inquiry into failings by police into the Soham murders in 2002. It found that police failed to disclose details of allegations against Ian Huntley a year before he murdered Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, both 10. Safe house proves not so safe thanks to SmartWater Forensic evidence provided by SmartWater has seen a man jailed after he provided a "safe house" for violent robbers. Police found several items marked with the tell-tale glow of SmartWater Technology Ltd's uniquely coded liquid at the home of Derek Smith following the armed robbery of two cash-in-transit couriers. The men were delivering cash to an ATM at a Spar supermarket in Kitt Green, Wigan at the time of the attack. Ann Arbour, Michigan, mini market owner Nabeel Gneym said he is getting desperate to open the mysterious, locked safe he inherited when he moved his convenience store into the first floor of the Tower Plaza complex. He's now offering to split the contents with anyone who can crack the massive Fichet-Bauche brand safe, which is believed to be at least 25 years old and weighs up to 8,500 pounds. Samsung Appoint Project Support Team Manager John Sayer has been appointed the Manager of Samsung's recently formed Project Support Team.
