It is now time for wider consultation on the changes that have been made and practitioners in these two sectors are invited to have their say. This is an important part of the review process and all comments will go back to the advisory working groups for consideration. Kingston Technology's digital storage arm has announced a new USB drive which it claims represents the most secure portable storage it has yet created. More than 1,000 Olympics security passes lost or stolen More than 1,000 security passes to the 2012 Olympic Park and athletes' village have been lost or stolen so far this year. During the same period there have been 357 security alerts at the two venues - more than one a day. The Olympic Delivery Authority said passes are immediately de-activated when they are reported missing or stolen and special controls mean they would have to match hand prints to grant access. Mul-T-Lock dedicates new appointment to access control
Hoax e-mail From "Crimestoppers" Trading Standards has advised of a hoax email purporting to be from Crime Stoppers. The email states that "if forced by a robber to withdraw monies, the victim can notify the bank they are under duress and alert the Police by entering their PIN number in reverse." This is a hoax, and entering a reverse PIN will have no effect. Domain Registration Update Scam There have been reports from businesses and consumers that they are being contacted by companies claiming that their domain registration needs to be updated for a cost of around £75. IATA warns that UK airports struggling to cope with security costs The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has warned that the main UK airports are struggling to cope with mounting layers of security regulations that are costing some £4.6bn a year to implement. Cars are becoming small computing powerhouses, able to communicate and connect with each other and their surroundings. Bluetooth links, wireless sensors, mobile phone network and even internet connectivity is already available, and the more that cars resemble objects in computing networks, the more vulnerable they become to computing attack methods. SBD have investigated the likelihood of hacking attacks being used to steal vehicles, and have found that future systems may be vulnerable.
