NZ locksmith finds key to success
Ted Ellens was struggling to pay his bills and working three part-time jobs to keep his locksmith business afloat. The 70-year-old used to jump-start cars and worked as a cleaner at Renwick Kindergarten to supplement his income running Marlborough Mobile Locksmiths.
"When you are wearing a lot of different hats, it's hard to be positive," Ellens said. "We went through the worst economic downturn I can recall in my working history. I was barely making my commitments. I was worn out physically, mentally and emotionally."
