Security guards in plain clothes are going to patrol Brittany Ferries
Plain clothes security staff are to be placed on Brittany Ferries' vessels and passengers will face additional bag checks, it has been revealed. The Plymouth-based company has increased security measures for travellers ahead of its summer rush. The security staff won't be armed but gun-toting French military patrols, introduced last year, are continuing.
Armed sea marshals were on board the Plymouth to Roscoff return trip from the weekend of July 1/2. The new measures come as the result of a six-month review of on-board security and the introduction of armed military patrols on cross-channel services.
