Steffen Zimmermann, appointed as new MD at Gira
Gira, one of the world's leading full-range suppliers of intelligent system solutions for building management, is pleased to announce Steffen Zimmermann as its new Managing Director with effect from Friday, 1st February 2019.
Steffen Zimmermann will reinforce the management of Gira Giersiepen GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Radevormwald, and he will succeed Alfred A. Bulitz, who has retired from the family business after 17 years as Managing Director.
Like his predecessor, Steffen Zimmermann will be responsible for Gira production and logistics, along with overseeing purchasing, planning and scheduling to formulate and successfully implement company policies and future strategies. Steffen will also develop and manage the Gira supply chain, with a view to secure a new level of commercial appeal and increase production and distribution.
Steffen Zimmermann joins Gira following his tenure at the Dormakaba Group, one of the top three companies of access control and security solutions across the global market.
"We are very pleased to welcome Steffen Zimmermann as our new Managing Director. With expert knowledge and proficiency on Gira, its products and services, we are confident he will seamlessly fill the position of Alfred A. Bulitz within our managerial team. Likewise, Steffen's many years of experience spanning industrial series production, quality assurance and lean management, will also help us to further improve our competitiveness and future viability" says Dirk Giersiepen, Managing Partner, Gira Giersiepen GmbH & Co. KG.
"The fact that my start at Gira, as the successor to Alfred Bulitz, coincides more or less with the commissioning of our new production, development and logistics centre in Radevormwald, makes the task even more appealing to me. In addition, I am naturally looking forward to the new, very innovative building automation industry in a market characterized by technological change, in which Gira wants to make a difference" explains Steffen Zimmermann.
Note to editor:
Steffen Zimmermann gained his first professional experience in the electrical retail industry after completing his training in 1992 as Group Leader Electrics in Commercial Vehicle Production at Mercedes Benz in Mannheim, Germany. This was followed by further professional positions in the commercial vehicle industry from 1996, which is known for placing the highest demands on its logistics processes - including executive positions at MAN Truck & Bus AG in Munich and Schmitz Cargobull AG in Altenberge.
Steffen Zimmermann joined Dorma Holding in 2011, now trading as dormakaba Group. A global provider of access and security solutions, Steffen most recently served as Senior Vice President Production and Purchasing for an international manufacturing network. In addition, he was responsible for purchasing production and non-production material, as well as the prototype and technology centre.
