Mitie appointed to the Prison Operator Services framework

Mitie-security.jpgMitie's Care & Custody division has been named as a supplier on the Prison Operator Services (POS) framework.

The Ministry of Justice launched the POS framework to effectively manage a pipeline of competition for new prisons and potentially existing privately managed prisons over the next six years.

This appointment further reinforces Mitie's strategy to broaden the range of essential services it delivers to government and other public sector bodies, and builds on its previous experience in delivering custodial services to the UK government.

Mitie, one of the UK's leading facilities management companies, already provides removal and detention services at two immigration centres, as well as forensic medical services in numerous custody suites across the UK. This expertise is directly relevant to the custodial services sector and, Mitie believes, was a key contributor in securing Mitie's place on the POS framework.

The appointment follows Mitie's other recent appointments to both the CCS frameworks for Defence and Security in April 2019, and the CCS Facilities Management framework in July 2018.

Colin Dobell, Managing Director, Care & Custody, Mitie, said:

"This appointment to the Prison Operator Services framework offers the opportunity to bid for select contracts which enhance the work we already do with government. We are passionate about the quality of work we deliver within the judicial system and look forward to the opportunity to further support these services."
