MLA Expo outflanking 2009 show
With just two months to go until one the most anticipated locksmithing exhibitions of the year, organisers behind MLA Expo '11 are delighted to announce a substantial increase in the number of enquiries and sold exhibition space based on figures from the previous event.
The last MLA Expo in 2009 saw just under 50 exhibitors and over 1000 visitors through the doors, but with a record number of stalls already sold for the 2011 event and enquiries still flooding in, the Master Locksmiths Association (MLA) is gearing up for its biggest Expo to date.
Set for 9 - 11 September 2011 at The International Centre in Telford, the 2011 MLA Expo is the 16th instalment of the event that sees locksmiths and suppliers from all over the world travel to this prestigious exhibition.
Sponsored by locksmithing tool specialist UAP Tradelocks, Expo visitors will have the opportunity to meet suppliers, test products, discuss industry trends, chat with fellow locksmiths and take part in training courses.
Commenting on the exhibition, Dr Steffan George, development director for the MLA said: "We are delighted with the response we've had for this year's Expo. We've signed up a fantastic range of exhibitors from CCTV providers, to lock manufacturers, major wholesalers, safe manufacturers and specialist tool suppliers allowing us to offer a wide range of expertise and products to our visitors. In addition we have also responded to feedback and lined up an even more varied training schedule which looks at issues ranging from auto locksmithing to access control, safes, UPVC and fire regulations as well as practical business training such as credit control and marketing.
"The fact we are still getting such a volume of exhibition space sales and enquiries shows that the MLA Expo really is regarded as one of the highlights in the locksmithing calendar and a must-visit event for professionals from all over the world.
Profits made from the 2011 MLA Expo will go towards the development of a nationally recognised locksmithing qualification and apprenticeship framework for the locksmithing profession in England. Working alongside security skills body Skills for Security (SfS) the MLA has spearheaded the development of National Occupational Standards (NOS) which are currently being researched and developed by SfS and practicing locksmiths.
Dr George added: "Because the MLA has been heavily campaigning for the legitimisation of the locksmithing profession, we are investing profits made at this year's Expo towards developing a nationally recognised qualification and formal apprenticeship framework which will help raise standards across the industry and start the process of making locksmithing a "proper job". We would encourage anyone keen to support our mission to show their support by joining us at the Expo in September."
MLA Expo exhibitors and visitors typically range from tool suppliers to practicing locksmiths, specialist locksmiths, manufacturers and associated companies but also include local government, police and insurers and other security related professions. Around 2000 people from all over the globe are expected to attend the three day event - previous exhibitions have seen visitors come from as far afield as Australia, continental Europe and the USA.
