UNION offers maximum protection with keyMASTER
UNION has announced its premium and comprehensive new master key cylinder range, keyMASTER, delivering a long-lasting patent life for maximum protection.
Patent protection is a must-have feature for master key systems, stopping unauthorised replacement keys from being legally cut or made by unapproved partners. With the new keyMASTER range patented until 2036, architectural ironmongers and locksmiths can rest assured that only authorised partners can supply replacement keys, and these will always be cut from genuine blanks. In addition, both keyMASTER’s key and cylinder are protected by two patented features, essentially doubling up the key copy protection credentials of the platform.
keyMASTER offers the option of a complete factory-controlled system. For installations where security is paramount, all keys and replacement cylinders are created by UNION. Alternatively, a locksmith section is available where approved UNION partners can buy components and key blanks for local key cutting and assembly requirements, providing total flexibility for all customers and end users.
Ideally suited for medium to large-scale projects, keyMASTER offers more than 100,000 differs – the highest security grade of BS EN 1303:2015. This means the system can be specified without having to worry about capacity issues, no matter the size of the site, or whether future extensions are planned. So, architectural ironmongers can tender for new specifications and locksmiths supply to new projects with ease and confidence.
keyMASTER combines excellent master keying capabilities with a wide range of cylinder finishes, including satin nickel, satin chrome, chrome, polished brass, satin brass, and antique bronze. As a result, the range suits most modern door furniture specifications, making architectural ironmongers and locksmiths’ lives easier.
keyMASTER goes above and beyond meeting the minimum requirements for master key systems. Satisfying BS EN 1303:2015 for to physical attack, overall durability, and key security, cylinders are tested to 500,000 cycles – five times greater than the standard demands.
The product has been rigorously tested to BS EN 1634-1 for fire safety, protecting against fire for 30- and 60-minute timber doors, and 120- and 240-minute steel doors.
Offered with fast and reliable delivery and lead times, UNION has made sure that keyMASTER customers can quickly respond to meet their client’s demands. The system can be installed on-site fast, in line with speedy delivery dates.
Craig Birch, Head of Product Management at UNION, said: “keyMASTER has one of the longest patent lifetimes available on the market today. It’s so important that architectural ironmongers and locksmiths are not misled by promises of ‘copyright protection’ or ‘lifetime trademark protection’ – only a patent offers assured protection for a master key system.
“The system’s master keying capabilities are too numerous to mention: from surpassing all the necessary security and fire safety standards, to anti-pick and anti-bump pins to defend against attacks; to a variety of cylinder features such as clutch release and classroom functions, for safety key override features on doors, and multiple finishes; to the availability of exclusive profiles, and a 10-year or 100,000 cycle product guarantee – keyMASTER has it all.
“With keyMASTER, our ultimate aim has been to essentially provide architectural ironmongers and locksmiths with a ‘one-stop shop’ for all their master key needs. Having supplied these solutions around the world for over 100 years, UNION is proud to be a master key leader, understanding the security challenges and needs that must be overcome. Put simply, we believe keyMASTER offers the ultimate master key cylinder solution.”
keyMASTER is also compatible with UNION’s new high-security padlock range. Allowing external or isolated areas to be secured within a master key system, the robust new padlocks can be easily integrated as part of a new specification or further down the line, should a system need to expand.
