Aqara G4, the first battery-powered video doorbell to work with Apple’s HomeKit Secure Video

* Video-doorbell.jpgThe Aqara G4 is a unique video doorbell in that it can be wired, or battery powered. It is also the first battery-powered video doorbell to work with Apple’s HomeKit Secure Video and supports streaming to Google and Alexa smart displays.

Beyond HomeKit Secure Video, the G4 offers a wide range of features and capabilities, including 1080p video recording, a 162-degree wide-angle lens, two-way audio communication, motion detection, AI facial recognition, infrared night vision, weather resistance and full customisation.

It is not only packed with functionality but has a sleek and modern design with a choice of Black or Space Gray, guaranteed to complement any home setting.

As the G4 is Apple Homekit compatible videos and notifications can be viewed on any Apple device including iPads, iPhones, and Apple TVs so they are always easily accessible whether at home or out and about. For Google and Alexa users, it also supports local streaming to Nest and Echo smart displays. The G4 is now compatible with Matter too to offer consumers as much choice as possible.

The G4 can be fully battery-powered, which means the user can set it up anywhere on their own in minutes, by simply using the included sticker or easy screws but there is also an option to wire it to any existing doorbell if preferred.

Despite it being feature packed, the G4’s battery life is one of the longest: its 6-battery pack means it can be used for up to 4 months and the AA batteries can be easily and cheaply replaced. However, there is also the option to wire the G4 to a 12-24V AC or 8-24V DC transformer, whereby the batteries will only kick in case of a power outage. Thanks to its IP rating, the G4 will resist almost any condition: direct sunlight during the hot sunny days, long winters and even wet conditions.
