Southsea centre gets safe with Burg Wächter

* Havelock-safe.jpegA community centre in Portsmouth has been awarded with Burg-Wächter’s ‘Secure Communities Scheme,’ allowing them to receive free security products to help keep their important belongings secure.

Havelock Community Centre in Southsea applied for Burg-Wächter’s ‘Secure Communities Scheme’ for assistance with security products. At the time, the centre did not own a security safe, meaning important items were stored in insecure and accessible places.

Burg-Wächter awarded them its PointSafe Electronic Locking Laptop Safe, a compact 38.8L safe with enough space for small electronics, documents, files, and cash box. The PointSafe series features solid construction with a steel body and double-walled door, making it both secure but easy for to install at home or in small offices. They are ideal for integrating into cabinets, desk drawers, or on shelves. It also has an electronic battery-operated combination lock that uses motorised locking bolts for automatic opening, with no need for an extra power source.

Havelock Community Centre is the heart of the local community in Southsea, providing a sustainable, secure, culturally diverse and accessible space for people living in and visiting the area. The centre hosts various community events, groups and classes for all ages, from yoga and karate to crafting and lunch clubs, including weekly Warm Spaces, in partnership with Portsmouth City Council and Hive Portsmouth where local residents can meet, chat, and enjoy their time in a safe and warm environment.

Amy Feist, Centre Manager at Havelock Community Centre, said: “I’ve recently joined the centre in the past few months, and when realising we kept money and important items in an office drawer, I knew we needed to get the centre a safe to keep these items secure.

“Working with Burg-Wächter, they recommended a safe based on the requirements we needed and what they sent has been brilliant. We can now store things securely and safely, knowing they are protected thanks to our new Burg-Wächter safe. We are very grateful to Burg-Wächter for choosing us to be a part of their Secure Communities Scheme and we’d definitely recommend other community groups apply for the scheme for support with security.”

Burg-Wächter's Secure Communities Scheme gives regional charities and community groups the chance to win a security kit worth up to £200 for their organization. Any regional initiative that is run by or supports the local community can apply.

Burg-Wächter launched the scheme in recognition of the fact that people around the country who are doing their bit for their community should not have to worry about the security of their premises, equipment, or storage areas.  The company's Secure Communities Scheme is its way of saying thank you to community leaders for supporting people in their area.

The type of project or organisation that the scheme is open to is very wide-ranging. If the initiative is run by or supports the local community, and it has a specific security need, Burg-Wächter would like to hear about it. Successful applicants will each receive a tailored security kit to help secure property, premises, equipment, or storage areas to the value of £150 - £200 at retail price.

The Secure Communities Scheme is an ongoing initiative, which has already helped over 100 regional causes through the provision of over 2,000 pieces of security equipment.
