As if we needed any reminder, the news that a locksmith has been killed just for doing his job during a legal eviction, along with a police officer who accompanied him, bears witness yet again that locksmithing at the 'coal face' can be a dangerous job with long, unsocial hours. Thankfully fatal incidents of this nature are still comparitively rare, but this is one of the reasons OPAL has been formed. Our sympathies go to the families of both victims.

The second big news item for us this week is that our sister publication Locks & Security Magazine has now fully switched over from a free controlled circulation journal to paid-for only. If you have been a free subscriber up until now, that's great. But you still won't get the next edition unless you pay for it. More details and subsciption links below.
