FDIS provides locksmiths with the key to new business opportunities
The Fire Door Inspection (FDIS) will be exhibiting at the Locksmiths' Exhibition. Visitors will be able to talk to FDIS General Manager Neil Ashdown about how they can boost the services they provide by taking the FDIS Diploma, an online education programme that is available to anyone who wishes to have a greater knowledge of fire doors and a qualification to prove it.
Only FDIS Diploma holders may become Certificated Fire Door Inspectors by undertaking the education programme and being assessed to determine whether they meet the requirements of the scheme. Once they have met the requirements they will be entitled to use the designation CertFDI and
Once they have proved they have the competence to meet the required FDIS standard and committed to working to the FDIS Code of Conduct, Certificated Inspectors are entitled to use the designation CertFDI and are provided with support tools including:
• access to the FDIS database that records and reports on all aspects of fire door inspections
• template inspection reports
• the unique FDIS labelling system
• template contracts
• sales tips
• sales leads
• discounted insurance deals.
In addition, their details will be added to a web-based searchable database to help anyone with legal responsibilities for fire safety to find a qualified person to ensure the safe functioning of all their fire doors.
