Opportunity for West Midlands defence and security firms to reach new markets

West Midlands firms in the defence and security sectors are being invited to find out how they can secure new export business at three UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) roadshows in Malvern, Birmingham and Coventry.

Experts from UKTI’s Defence & Security Organisation (DSO) will be advising companies in these sectors on how they can reach international markets.

Dates and venues of the free events, which all run from 9.30am to 12.30pm, follow below:

· Tuesday, November 9 - Malvern Hills Science Park;

· Wednesday, November 10 - Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and

· Thursday, November 11 – Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce.

Doug Mahoney, UKTI’s International Trade Director for the West Midlands, said: “This region has many defence and security companies looking to market their products and services to overseas customers.

“The Government’s Strategic Defence Review is driving the need to consider new locations and opportunities for international sales.

“This event is designed to support this activity and is coming to three locations in the West Midlands so that the DSO experts can meet and advise as many firms as possible, supported by our team of local international trade advisers.

“Any West Midlands companies that are looking to develop new target markets in the defence and security sectors are welcome to join.”
