Skyguard scoops lone worker honours at security excellence awards
Skyguard have been recognised for their continued outstanding contribution to Lone Worker protection at the recent IFSEC Security and Fire Excellence Awards 2014, beating some tough competition in the 'Best Deployment of Lone Worker Technology' category.
Presented at the prestigious Hilton Hotel on Park Lane in London attended by over 1,000 Security industry experts, Director Will Murray received the award on behalf of the company.
Now in their sixteenth year, the Security Excellence Awards are widely recognised as the 'Oscars' for both the security & fire business sectors. The awards highlight the very best people, projects and processes the UK's security sector has to offer.
The high calibre Judging Panel - including representatives from all areas of security & fire, the world of academia and the policing sector determined that Skyguard's deployment of personal safety devices and 24 hour Incident Management to Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust surpassed all other entries.
Skyguard provide over 700 MySOS personal safety alarms to the flagship Trust, replacing the incumbent provider's devices originally purchased via the 2009 Framework Agreement. Since issuing the keyfob-sized devices to lone working employees, a survey carried out earlier this year reported an average of 93.1 score out of 100 for overall satisfaction.
Marketing Director, Will Murray spoke after the presentation, "We are delighted that our work with Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust has been honoured with this award.
"Receiving such high recognition from our industry peers is a proud moment for all at Skyguard. It underscores our track record for delivering first-class lone worker protection to the NHS as well as other public sector bodies and blue-chip organisations."
Paul Clifford, Security Operations Manager of Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust spoke of the impact that Skyguard has made towards lone working.
"The Skyguard devices are small enough to be discreet but a very powerful device. Adopting the Skyguard device has allowed us to provide a consistent approach to lone working within the Trust.
"To be able to offer the Skyguard device helps the employee feel safer and gives them more freedom and the confidence to live their life through a potentially difficult time.
Guy's and St Thomas are one of over 100 NHS Trusts that now utilise Skyguard's service to protect their lone working employees. What's more, the MySOS device can now be purchased directly via The NHS Supply Chain after a recent awarding of a Framework Agreement.
Established in 2000, Skyguard provides Europe's premier personal safety service for lone workers and people at risk. Skyguard offers a range of state-of-the-art personal safety devices linked to our own purpose built, UK based, 24/7 Incident Management Centre certified to the highest lone working industry standards (BS 8484, BS 5979 Category 2). It was the first single purpose Alarm Receiving Centre in the UK to receive these certifications by NSI's ARC Gold Approval scheme. Skyguard is the UK's only wholly owned end-to-end service provider, with each component fully certified to all elements of BS 8484.
One of the few companies in the industry to have GPS devices accredited by ACPO's coveted Secured by Design, the Skyguard service is used by over half the UK's Police forces to protect the most vulnerable in society.
In August 2011, Skyguard launched the world's first and only localised emergency response service operating in 36 countries across Europe, the Russian Federation and South Africa.
