A South Florida locksmith is accused of pilfering from some of the same safes he was supposed to protect from thieves.

Eric Welch, 50, of Coconut Creek, was arrested Thursday in the back of a Home Depot in Margate after he allegedly cracked opened a safe full of cash that was bolted to a van's floorboard.

UAP TradeLocks back Police campaign to rid country of lock snapping

A leading door security expert is backing a campaign from West Yorkshire Police and the Association of Chief Police Officers urging homeowners to check the quality of their locks.

As BBC Yorkshire's Inside Out focused on just how vulnerable locks can be and official police figures reveal 27% of all burglaries across England involve lock snapping on euro cylinders, UAP TradeLocks say that creating an awareness of the problem, both publically and within the industry, is the key to preventing more attacks on homes.

HSE-endorsed powered gate safety guide published by DHF

* dhf_gate_leaflet.jpgA comprehensive guide to powered gate safety has been published by the Door & Hardware Federation with the backing of the Health & Safety Executive. It has now been adopted as best practice technical guidance by Gate Safe, the industry-led campaign to improve automated gate safety. Gate Safe has been working with DHF on raising awareness of safety of automatic gates and was consulted in the development of the guidance.

The guide informs all those within the industry on the legislation, standards and guidelines that need to be followed to ensure every gate installation is safe.

UKs largest ever crime reduction initiative launched by Facewatch and 16,500 NFRN members

The NFRN (National Federation of Retail Newsagents) is to be the first National sponsor and official partner of the not-for-profit company Facewatch & Partners in a three year deal, enabling over 16,500 independent shops to participate in a ground breaking initiative to quantify an accurate picture of the prevalence of low level crime in our communities and take positive action to reduce it in partnership with police forces across the UK.

The scheme will provide all 16,500 NFRN members with a bespoke crime recording module which will be a very simple way to record all shoplifting and other low level crimes as they occur, providing accurate and real time statistics on crime across the UK, whether reported to the police or not. Crooked locksmith jailed for breaking into launderette

A crooked locksmith used his skill to break into a Maidstone launderette that has been targeted several times by thieves. Lee Deering was "tooled up" to burgle the Washboard and Mangle, in Foley Street, to steal cash at night in December last year.

Emizon moves

From Monday 12th March 2012, alarm signalling and CCTV monitoring firm Emizon will be operating out of new prestigious offices in Rugby, Warwickshire.

The move is necessary because Emizon has simply outgrown its home for the past 6 years in Lutterworth, Leicestershire, due to continued growth in the business, both in the UK and around the world. The new base is only 20 minutes away in Rugby and is very central for access to the M1, M6 and A14. The new office will accommodate additional resources in both Telesales and Technical Helpdesk departments. Every single staff member will be making the relatively short transfer to Rugby.
