An Open Letter to anyone in the Locksmith Industry

Wesley Hottot, an attorney with the Institute for Justice, sent an email a while ago requesting I participate in shaping future legislation as pertain to the locksmith industry.  He suggested sending recommended changes in policies which regulate locksmith licensing in the State of Texas to The Texas Red Tape Challenge, a project arm of House Government Efficiency & Reform Committee, which will accept suggestions from all members of the locksmith industry until July 31, 2012.

'We should hire McKinnon': US expert on cyber warfare calls attempt to extradite hacker 'ridiculous and punitive'

A U.S. government adviser on cyber warfare last night attacked his government's 'ridiculous' and 'punitive' attempt to extradite Gary McKinnon.
John Arquilla, a professor of defence analysis at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, said officials should instead be hiring the Asperger's sufferer.

The Olympics starts on Friday and I'm sure we'll all enjoy watching it without any security disasters now that the police and military are plugging any gaps and after Bradley Wiggins showing the way in the Tour de France we think that we'll probably do at least as well as in Beijing. If not, we'll have something else to moan about...

Hotel key cards open to hacking, developer says

A hacker claims his $50 device can access millions of hotel rooms. A hacker has developed a device he says can act as a universal hotel key card to access millions of rooms around the world. Using a home-made gadget, security researcher Cody Brocious said he had mimicked a master key card to gain access to any room with an Onity lock.

999 emergency number marks its 75th anniversary

In 1937, members of the public were given an easy to remember number to call in an emergency following the deaths of five women in a London fire.

The first call led to a would-be burglar being arrested within 5 minutes of the householder dialing the new number. Now that's a service we could use today!
