This year FGH Security dramatically increased the number of body cameras used by its staff following a highly successful trial in the use of them to reduce alcohol related crime and disorder. The trial proved so successful that following a consultation process Lancashire Constabulary helped to secure additional funding from Lancaster's Community Alcohol Network. With still 4 months to go the Lockexpo 2015 has all SOLD OUT. A wait list will be started and if enough exhibitors ask, then there is an additional exhibition space that can be used. New security qualifications to be launched in 2015 A new suite of qualifications for learners hoping to become licensed security operatives is to be launched in January 2015, with Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance ('HABC') assisting in their development. Updated surveillance guidance fit for challenges of 2014 and beyond Surveillance cameras must only be used as a necessary and proportionate response to a real and pressing problem. That was the warning issued by the ICO as it published its updated CCTV guidance last month.* Axis Security scores a hat-trick at the Security and Fire Excellence Awards Axis Security, a leading provider of bespoke security services, has for the second year in a row been selected in three categories at the Security and Fire Excellence Awards, including Security Guarding Company of the Year, an award the company won both last year and in 2011. Upcoming CCTV Code of Practice launch and webinar discussion The ICO is publishing its updated CCTV Code of Practice next month. The guidance takes into account developments in the use of CCTV and other forms of video surveillance since the guidance was first published in 2000. This will include everything from automatic recognition of car number plates through to the personal information collected by flying drones. The code will also mark the launch of the new ICO webinar service. The first webinar will be held a few days after the launch of the new CCTV Code of Practice. The webinar will give a unique opportunity to watch a live presentation carried out by the ICO policy team discussing the guidance, and allow you to send them your questions. Leaving for a new job? Don't walk off with personal information The ICO has warned employees leaving for a new job that taking personal information collected by their former employer with them when they leave is a criminal offence. The warning comes after a paralegal, who previously worked at a Yorkshire solicitor's firm, was prosecuted for illegally taking the sensitive personal information of over 100 people when leaving for a rival firm. The employee was fined £300 and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £438.63. Unlawfully obtaining or accessing personal data is a criminal offence under section 55 of the DPA. 2015 Lockexpo virtually sold out
