ASSA ABLOY’s range of door closers is one of the few available on the market to satisfy the certification demands of uninsulated metal fire doors, the ASSA ABLOY Door Hardware & Access Control Group has announced.
At the end of 2017, a number of UKAS accredited authorities withdrew certification for almost all door closers used on uninsulated metal fire doors. While a number of these certifications have since been reinstated, they typically only cover the use of door closers on the side of the fire door that is deemed most at risk. In many instances, it can be difficult to determine which side of the fire door this is.

In today’s fast-paced digital age, we’re constantly subject to change - and it’s no different for access control. Trevor Ball of Allegion UK asks whether we truly understand the importance of seamless system integration in today’s shifting access control market.
The world of access control is changing. Ask anyone active in the industry and the likelihood is that they’ll confirm a shift in landscape. Take a step back and you realise how quickly access control has advanced, moving from traditional lock and key methods to the tech-driven security solutions we find in our facilities today.

On the news that Travelex is still offline after a ransomware attack on New Year’s Eve, Toni Vitale, partner and head of data protection at JMW Solicitors, says:
“The fact that, for several days, there was no coherent communication from Travelex as to the exact nature of the attack left customers, media, stakeholders and other interested parties in the dark. It also appears that Travelex did not inform the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) about the breach. Many may think a ransomware attack is not a data breach because the data is still on the system but if the personal data entrusted to your care is encrypted and you cannot access it or decrypt it, you could be deemed to have lost control of the data and therefore it could constitute a breach.
There are still a small number of stands left, so if you want to get in front of locksmiths from all over the country (and some from further afield!) this is your chance!
