Products BAE buys Irish security specialist British defence giant BAE Systems has agreed to buy Dublin-based financial security provider Norkom Group for more than £180 million. The board of Norkom unanimously recommended that shareholders accept the offer. BAE subsequently acquired more than 57 per cent of Norkom shares, including undertakings from the directors. Norkom's financial crime and compliance services are used in more than 100 countries. BAE chief executive Ian King said the deal "would provide an opportunity for accelerated growth in the fast growing cyber and intelligence services sector." Larson Electronics has released a commercial grade LED light designed to replace traditional fluorescents that is suitable for use in wet areas and durable enough to withstand rigorous handling. The Magnalight WAL-PFL-4LED-120-10 portable LED floodlight system produces 45% more light than similar T8 fluorescent fixtures while drawing less than 1 amp of electricity. Security Reaches a New Level at Scott County Jail
Scott County Jail sought a real-time video analytics solution for the detection of unauthorized people in restricted zones. Locksmiths' Exhibition 2011 - training classes announced It has been announced that there will be a programme of Training Classes held at the Locksmiths' Exhibition 2011. All Classes must be paid for before the event - there are unlikely to be any free places on the day as the instructors need to bring in supplies on a per student basis. Relay attacks on cars now in the public domain Three researchers from the system security group at ETH Zurich in Switzerland were able to break into 10 vehicles made by 8 manufacturers and drive them away by intercepting and relaying signals from the cars to their smart keys. ETH Zurich’s researchers said that the materials for the wireless attack cost as little as $100, depending on the electronic components used. The same equipment was used on all brands.
