Lumidigm has announced that i-Evo (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) is using the company's multispectral imaging sensors to produce a line of extremely versatile fingerprint readers that can be used both indoors and outdoors, including in harsh environments that render most biometric readers inoperable. $1m diamonds theft shakes confidence in Indian bank security In a case that has shaken confidence in Indian bank security, four men including two diamond dealers, along with a real estate dealer and a master locksmith have been arrested on charges of robbing diamonds worth at least $1 million from seven bank security lockers. BAE buys Irish security specialist British defence giant BAE Systems has agreed to buy Dublin-based financial security provider Norkom Group for more than £180 million. The board of Norkom unanimously recommended that shareholders accept the offer. BAE subsequently acquired more than 57 per cent of Norkom shares, including undertakings from the directors. Norkom's financial crime and compliance services are used in more than 100 countries. BAE chief executive Ian King said the deal "would provide an opportunity for accelerated growth in the fast growing cyber and intelligence services sector." Larson Electronics has released a commercial grade LED light designed to replace traditional fluorescents that is suitable for use in wet areas and durable enough to withstand rigorous handling. The Magnalight WAL-PFL-4LED-120-10 portable LED floodlight system produces 45% more light than similar T8 fluorescent fixtures while drawing less than 1 amp of electricity.
