98% of UK businesses experienced a security incident in the last 12 months

A significant 98 per cent of UK organisations experienced some form of a security incident in the last 12 months, according to a new report from Barracuda Networks Inc. (Barracuda), a leading provider of cloud-enabled security solutions. 

The report, titled The State of Industrial Security in 2022, surveyed 800 senior IT managers, senior IT security managers, and project managers responsible for industrial internet of things (IIoT)/operational technology (OT) in their organisation to get their perspectives on IIoT/OT security projects, implementation challenges, security incidents, technology investments, and a variety of issues related to cybersecurity risks.

Businesses cannot rely on surface-level fixes for their cybersecurity, says MyCena

In mid-March, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) released a report highlighting how cyber actors routinely exploit poor security configurations, weak controls, and other poor cyber hygiene practices to gain access and compromise user systems. These included not enforcing multifactor authentication, primarily with remote desktop access, the use of vendor-supplied default login usernames and passwords, and the failure to detect and block phishing attempts.
