Revealed: locksmiths spend £380 on tools each year New research has revealed that UK locksmiths spend an average of £380 on tools each year:
The study, conducted by ElectricalDirect, asked tradespeople about their outgoings on tools, maintenance and repairs, and found that 43% of locksmiths can't afford the new tools they need. Furthermore, 36% keep their tools for longer than they used to, and 43% are now more likely to repair their own equipment. Worryingly, 14% are even using damaged tools as they can't afford replacements. Abloy UK launches new RIBA-approved CPD course Abloy UK has launched a new RIBA-approved CPD course, explaining the requirements of EN 13637:2015 for electrically controlled exit systems for use on escape doors and how to achieve safe electrically controlled escape doors. The course, delivered by accredited Abloy experts, explores EN 13637, which was adopted by BSI in August 2015. The standard covers the application of electrical controls to manage the unauthorised use of escape doors, whether as part of an access control system or just to achieve exit management in situations such as retail stores, hospitals and schools and commercial premises. Drone technology deployed to combat protestor threats Halo Solutions, the award-winning British tech company behind the world’s most intelligent crowd safety, incident and threat management platform, Halo (V5), is to deploy its live streaming drone technology Halo Stream to help combat protestor activity at major sporting events over the coming months. It comes as British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Home Secretary Suella Braverman and the Sports Minister Lucy Frazer are to hold talks with senior sporting leaders, event organisers and the Police in an attempt to head off disruptive protests by groups such as Just Stop Oil and Animal Rising and to stop them from ‘ruining events’ at other sporting events over the summer.
