Security guard disarms knifeman after girl stabbed in Leicester Square

Abdullah, 29, said he "heard a scream", then "jumped on" the man who was attacking the child before holding him down and taking the knife off him."I just saw a kid getting stabbed and I just tried to save her. It's my duty to just save them," he said. Abdullah said he and his colleagues gave first aid to the child before police arrived within four minutes of the attack on Monday morning.

Job Centre security guards launch fresh week-long strike that could lead to closures

More than 1,500 members of the GMB Union, employed by G4S on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions, will walk out until Sunday, August 18. Previous strikes have taken place in June and July, with some Job Centres having to close due to the action.

Andy Prendergast, GMB national secretary, said: "Job centre security guards do a difficult, often dangerous job. The least they deserve is decent pay."
