Job Centre security guards launch fresh week-long strike that could lead to closures More than 1,500 members of the GMB Union, employed by G4S on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions, will walk out until Sunday, August 18. Previous strikes have taken place in June and July, with some Job Centres having to close due to the action. Andy Prendergast, GMB national secretary, said: "Job centre security guards do a difficult, often dangerous job. The least they deserve is decent pay."
