Appeals Court sides with Google in battle over 'fraudulent' search listings

Siding with Google, a federal appellate court has refused to revive a lawsuit by a locksmith owner who blamed the search company for a decline in his business.

Baldino's Lock & Key Service, a locksmith based in Lorton, Virginia, argued that Google wrongly displayed listings for hundreds of unlicensed locksmiths, in order to collect ad revenue from them. The locksmith sued Google in 2014, alleging that the search company violated racketeering laws as well as false advertising laws by "publishing the names of illegally operating locksmiths."

Locksmiths chomping at the bit to unlock mysterious old vault

The contents of a 100-year-old bank vault in the compound of the Thung Song Railway Junction in Nakhon Si Thammarat will have to remain a mystery for a while longer, said Songchai Wongwatcharadamrong, mayor of Thung Song Municipality.

He said a team of locksmiths had been preparing to open the mysterious vault, which is enclosed in a room in an old office building formerly occupied by Siam Commercial Bank, but the plan was suspended by the governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT).

Dell admits security flaw was built in to computers

A security hole that could allow attackers to access users' personal data was inadvertently placed on Dell computers, the company has admitted.

The hole represented a "profound security flaw" that could allow access to bank details and other personal data, experts said.
Dell has issued guidance on removing the software that produced it.

NCC Group makes £93.5m swoop for Netherlands cyber security firm

Technology firm NCC Group is making its mark in the Netherlands after agreeing to a £93.5m deal to acquire high-end cyber security firm Fox IT.
The Manchester-headquartered firm will raise a gross total of £126.3m through a firm placing of new shares and through the placing and open offer of shares at an issue price of 275p.

Fox and its subsidiaries is headquartered in Delft, the Netherlands.

Enfield council's unprecedented public safety achievement
