Remote access management Rosslare launches new Rosslare BLE-ID App Rosslare Enterprises Ltd., a leading worldwide provider of professional security solutions including Access Control, Detectors, and Guard Patrol, has launched the Rosslare BLE-ID apps. By installing the apps onto their smartphones, users can use the smartphone as a credential for access control and automation applications. The ID code generated by the app is unique to the device, and may be transferred easily by email to the system administrator. Rosslare's new CSN SMART readers will appear in the app, and the user just needs to tap on the reader name to submit the credential to that particular reader. It will use scanners from the British security company ThruVision, capable of scanning upwards of 2,000 people per hour. Los Angeles is the first city in the US to employ body scanning security.
The scanners will monitor visitors for concealed weapons, both metal and non-metal, capable of causing mass casualties. They're not necessarily looking for smaller weapons. Instead, they are trying to identify things like suicide vests or assault weapons. No-tour mode allows for the altering of access to a lock without having to visit it. The supported locks, which include Schlage Control, NDE and LE, are said to be well-suited for multifamily property managers looking to retrofit their existing properties with electronic access control on individual apartment spaces. Allegion says this provides more security, eliminates unnecessary expenses around managing traditional keys and offers an enhanced tenant experience with ID card or phone access. It also makes it an option to consider for common areas within the building such as meeting rooms, recreational areas and laundry rooms. Huawei faces security backlash over its use of old US software for UK telecom networks Security officials in the UK are concerned that the nation's communications backbone could be at risk thanks to a piece of US-made software that is about to go out-of-date. The software is currently being used by Chinese telecoms giant Huawei, the company responsible for supplying networking equipment for BT, Vodafone and their subsidiaries. The problem surrounds Huawei's use of Wind River Systems' VxWorks operating system.
