Avocet's 3 star diamond superstar delivers UK's best defence against lock snapping
"Lock-snapping has increased significantly as a means of forced entry in recent years and with it so have the number of snap-secure locks on the market," said Avocet's Raymond Pearce. Threats from electronic theft methods Working with intelligence from police and vehicle theft investigators, SBD's latest report shows the variety of cars from the Kia Sportage to the latest Range Rovers which are now being targeted by thieves using electronic theft methods. The availability of programmable keys and the speed at which today's diagnostic tools operate has meant that some Organised Crime Groups (OCGs) are increasingly adopting this method of theft in preference to targeting the owner's key through house burglary, etc. The recent ESCAR conference in Frankfurt showed how methods from other industries, such as embedded Hardware Security Modules could be applied to make automotive anti-theft systems more robust. Cyber security: Answering tomorrow's problems today By Mark Brown Director of cyber resilience at Ernst & Young In 2014 cyber security challenges will be the scourge of international business and its boardrooms. As businesses struggle to grow and prosper, their risk agenda remains in a constant flux caused by the rapid pace of technological innovation.
So how should UK companies respond to cybercrime? The Lock Charmer (El cerrajero) One for our Spanish-language readers, El cerrajero is a new film by Natalia Smirnoff about an Argentinian locksmith who has surprising insights about his customers lives. "The so-called "Smoke Days" that occurred for a couple of weeks in Buenos Aires in 2008, when the city was blanketed in a malodorous fog of unknown origin, are the perfect backdrop for Smirnoff's story, with its occasional touches of magical realism, though her small cast of characters finally emerges as recognizably human despite the somewhat unnatural twists and turns of the story. After a world premiere at Sundance, this humble, 75-minute tale will work its modest magic at other festivals and in niche release in the Hispanosphere." The Hollywood Reporter 'Integrated Electronic Security a layered approach' by Martin Grigg
Grigg believes that a new breed of engineer is needed to design, install and maintain modern, integrated security systems. The book is also aimed at students and at end-users who are looking to maximise the return on their security schemes. |
