By Kaitlin Mulhere Ask a group of people to describe their memories of paying for a locksmith, and you're likely to hear a series of adjectives along the lines of "too much," "expensive," "hundreds," or "rip off." Paying to be let back into your own car or house, like coughing up your hard-earned cash on a parking ticket or a water heater replacement, is a special kind of nuisance. But are locksmith prices really so bad? Professional locksmiths, perhaps unsurprisingly, don't think so. But even the professionals admit that the service is ripe for ripoff artists. The 83-year-old founder of Phil's Lockshop Inc. was also a practical joker. Hobbs died Friday after spending a lifetime helping others unlock doors, crack safes, share a laugh, and understand God. The Surveillance Camera Commissioner, Tony Porter, has launched a national surveillance camera strategy for England and Wales, which has been endorsed by the British Security Industry Association. James Kelly, Chief Executive of the BSIA, comments: "The strategy is a very worthy and successful attempt to draw together the multiple stakeholders across a diverse and critically important sector. Nominate your outstanding apprentice installers for industry award As the 10th National Apprenticeship Week draws to a close, the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has called for security companies to nominate their apprentice installers for the 2017 Apprentice Installer Awards. These esteemed awards recognise the very best emerging talent from the electronic security industry. Awarded by the BSIA, the Apprentice Installer Awards acknowledge the achievements of second and third year apprentices involved in the installation of alarms, CCTV, access control or a combination of these systems. 2017 will be the seventeenth year that the awards have been presented with many past winners going on to enjoy a successful and rewarding career in the industry.
