Applied DNA catches Irish robber blue/green-handed

Already the bane of Swedish car thieves, Applied DNA Sciences has now notched its first armed-robbery criminal conviction in Ireland.

The latest international adventure for the Stony Brook-based anti-theft and product-authentication specialist and its ever-evolving roster of vertical markets takes us to the Emerald Isle, where evidence gathered through the biotech's SigNature DNA platform has helped convict a thug involved in a violent theft.

DG3 Locksmithing launches new Reversible Lock-kill

DG3 Locksmithing has announced the release of a brand new product called Reversible Lock-kill. The company says this new product is an improvement over the original Lockkill design because it is completely reversible and does not destroy the lock.

This prevents the lock from having to be drilled out to gain re-entry. Once reversed the original key will work in the lock as before.

Home access control updated

After recently viewing this short virtual animation showing a new and innovative access control device LASN contacted Robert Simpson of RDS Innovations Limited to tell us more.

Robert said that it was whilst working as a mobile car telephone/stereo/alarm fitter that he was involved in a serious road traffic collision that left him severely injured and with a total and permanent disability. During convalescence he was watching a lot of TV and it was while watching a UK Police drama that he had an idea.

The new MxBell App makes door stations even smarter

MOBOTIX has now released the app MxBell, adding a mobile remote station for MOBOTIX IP Video Door Stations, in addition to the MxDisplay+.

The app makes it possible to receive notifications when the doorbell rings and open the door from a mobile device, and even display a live view from the door camera. MxBell can be downloaded free of charge from Apple's App Store and from Google Play.

Electric Locks offer solution to City of London office building.

Architectural Ironmonger G. Johns and Sons of London were involved with the specification for an access control system at the office block in the City of London, whereby the client wanted a flexible access control system with the minimum of ironmongery on the doors and did not require the use of surface mounted electro-magnetic locks.

They required a modern office appearance with clean stylish lines, with a high level of security and the flexibility to offer office space to their clients.

Jeremy Barltrop of G. Johns chose to use the Securefast ASEL2460 Electric Escape Lock on the two doors on each landing of the five story building with Karcher Stainless Steel lever handles and connected via heavy duty conductor hinges to a reader on the outside of the doors.

Mitie has become a platinum associate member of the National Business Crime Solution (NBCS), an organisation that provides a collaborative approach to tackle cross-border, serious, and organised crime.

Rewards and penalties: taking bold steps to protect your company's data

A study from Veritas Technologies, a leader in multi-cloud data management, has found that the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has the potential to drive major cultural changes in businesses worldwide. Nearly three in four respondents plan to incentivise employees to improve data hygiene and take accountability for data compliance.

Additional training for Magenta staff saving lives and businesses
