Enhancements geared to provide better protection against unauthorised entry. The owner of a north Colorado Springs antiques marketplace opening later this month caused a scare recently when he called police and asked what he should do with the nitroglycerin in an old safe! It turned out the liquid wasn't an explosive, just a safecracker's worst nightmare. Mike Underwood, owner of Willowstone Antiques, had bought the safe years ago and planned to display it in his new business. ABUS acts to reduce impact of April 2011 prices on UK specific cylinder locks The new ABUS Pfaffenhain (APf) 2011 price list launches on April 1 with an average price increase of 1.7% from those published in July 2009. However customers will see some significant and unavoidable price rises in oval and night-latch cylinders.
Within ABUS, these APf oval and night-latch cylinders are peculiar to the UK, and are effectively manufactured exclusively for the UK market in comparatively small volumes. ABUS UK, in its first APf pricing review since July 2009, and despite increasing costs in raw materials and global inflation has been able to reduce some APf internationally high volume cylinders, but has also been forced to raise the price of APf oval and night-latch cylinders to reflect the true overheads for their manufacture. Trojan launches combi stainless steel range The Trojan Manufacturing Group has just announced its latest product development that again demonstrates its commitment to innovative and customer-focussed design. The development is the Combi stainless steel range, an extension of the already popular all-stainless steel range The stainless steel range of letterplates, door handles, letters, numbers and door knockers has been one of Trojan's biggest recent successes. But feedback from customers demonstrated that the range had further to go. G4S investigates explosives and drugs arrests The investigation follows the arrest of a woman charged with suspected possession of drugs and explosives, near London's Olympic Park complex, and a man at his home in Wales a day later. Police said in a statement that the woman, a dog handler for the firm, whose car was stopped and searched, had been bailed to return to an east London police station in late April. A locksmith claims a key (pictured above) found in the garden of the man accused of two double murders in Pembrokeshire, fitted a lock in a farmhouse which belonged to one of his alleged victims. Swansea Crown Court heard the key was discovered at 66-year-old John Cooper's former home at near Milford Haven in 1998 by police investigating a string of burglaries he was later jailed for. What does a locksmith need to clone keys? by Pete Southern, Lockdecoders There are many locksmiths and auto locksmiths who clone car keys. Manufacturers have endeavoured to make their machinery user-friendly and have made it a fairly simple process to copy many types of car keys. There are many entrepreneurs out there - existing "conventional" locksmiths, shoe repairers etc who may be considering expanding their services so that they are a one stop shop for keys. So what does Joe Locksmith need, in basic terms, to set up just to clone car keys? Alpro's clean green locking machine Alpro launch the new magnet range To ensure Alpro hardware stays at the forefront of new product design and innovation, the company has launched the Vortex range, a new generation of face to face electromagnets. The magnets are smaller than a standard slimline magnet, but combine higher holding forces of 1500kgs with lower current draw than standard magnets, making them both more efficient and ecologically friendly. ... asks Martin Rundle, Marketing Manager at Owlett-Jaton who will be taking part in a 10,000ft charity skydive in mid April.
